Thinking of Getting Married in Italy? Here are 5 Reasons You Should!
Have you always dreamed of going to Italy, but the timing has never been quite right? If you’re newly
engaged, how about having a destination wedding there? Aside from the fact that it can be a way to
mark “Go to Italy” off of your bucket list, there are tons of benefits that come with making the trip that
you probably have never even thought about before. Until now.
Getting married in Italy will probably turn out to be one of the best decisions that you’ve ever made in
your entire life. Here are the five reasons why we say so!
There are tons of romantic wedding spots.
Italy has the reputation for being one of the most romantic
places in the world. A part of it is because it has so many venues and locations where couples can
exchange their vows. Some of our personal favorites include having an outdoor wedding in Tuscany
among the rolling hills and castles, on a clifftop at the Amalfi Coast and perhaps on a boat in Lake Como.
It’s ideal for a spring or fall wedding.
You definitely have to take airfare into consideration, but if you’ve
always wanted to get married in the spring or fall, that’s just one more reason to consider Italy. From
September-March, airfare tends to be lower. However, if you want to spend the holidays there, be
prepared to pay significantly more (lots of people like Italy at Christmas!). Our personal advice would to
be to opt for a fall wedding. September and October are affordable when it comes to travel and also
extremely gorgeous when it comes to scenery. As a bonus, grapes are ripe in the fall which makes for
some truly delicious wine to toast to.
You can honeymoon there as well.
Say that you were also considering getting married in the United
States. If you were to do that, you might end up spending a significant amount of money on your
wedding and then on a honeymoon in another location. Not so in Italy! After saying your “I dos”, you
can then stay a week touring it. As far as hotels go, our top picks include the Hotel Caesar Augustus in
Capri, Hotel Caruso in Ravello and Hotel Santa Caterina in Amalfi (the cliff side views are breathtaking!).
There are plenty of things to do.
You might want to cozy up in your hotel the entire a time, and really,
who could blame you? But if you do want to get out and do a bit of sightseeing, Italy will not disappoint.
There are historic places in Rome, Venice, Florence, Vernazza and Manarola to keep you fully
entertained, not to mention the world-renowned restaurants in each place.
It’s can become a sentimental and memorable tradition.
If you were to get married at a church or hotel in your own city, chances are you wouldn’t think the return there year after year. After all, you are able
to see that spot any time that you wanted to. But if you were to get married in Italy? Could you just
imagine making it the place that you return on your anniversary every year, each time with something
new to see and do? Italy is one place, hands down, that you won’t regret going to: for your wedding and
as a way to celebrate and commemorate your love in the years to follow!
